Nicht umsonst wurde es bereits in den fr\u00fchen 80er Jahren zum UNESCO Weltkulturerbe ernannt, als eines der ersten Bauwerke in Deutschland. Deswegen eindeutig unsere Nummer 1 der W\u00fcrzburger Sehensw\u00fcrdigkeiten. <\/p>\n<h3>Reiche Geschichte und beeindruckende Architektur<\/h3>\n<p>Das Schloss entstand Mitte des 18. Jahrhunderts nach Pl\u00e4nen des erfolgreichen Barockarchitekten Balthasar Neumann. Die Innenausstattung, wie unter anderem die reichen Rokoko-Verzierungen in den Paradezimmern, wurde von verschiedenen namhaften K\u00fcnstlern gestaltet. Das Ergebnis ist ein <strong>Prachtexemplar des Barockbaus<\/strong>. Beispielsweise besteht das beeindruckende Treppenhaus aus einer einzigen, freitragenden Muldenkonstruktion und von einem riesigen Fresko geziert. <\/p>\n<div class=\"tipp_center\"><strong>\u00dcbrigens:<\/strong> Den Namen Balthasar Neumann sollten Sie sich merken. Der wird Ihnen n\u00e4mlich in W\u00fcrzburg des \u00d6fteren begegnen.<\/div>\n<h3>Vom F\u00fcrstensitz zum Museum<\/h3>\n<p>Nachdem ein gro\u00dfer Teil der Residenz zerst\u00f6rt wurde, zog sich ihr Wiederaufbau \u00fcber 40 Jahre hin. Heute sind 42 der insgesamt 340 R\u00e4ume als <strong>Schaur\u00e4ume<\/strong> hergerichtet. Andere Bereiche der Residenz werden von der W\u00fcrzburger Universit\u00e4t und dem Martin-Wagner-Museum genutzt. Weiterhin ist auch die Staatsgalerie W\u00fcrzburg in der Residenz zu Hause, die Werke aus der venezianischen Malerei ausstellt. Die Br\u00fccke verbindet die Altstadt auf der rechten Seite des Mains mit der gegen\u00fcberliegenden Festung Marienberg. Sie ist <strong>nur f\u00fcr Fu\u00dfg\u00e4nger und Radfahrer<\/strong> ge\u00f6ffnet. Um den Verkehr m\u00fcssen Sie sich demnach keine Sorgen machen, w\u00e4hrend Sie den Blick auf die Stadt genie\u00dfen.  <\/p>\n<h3>Bewegte Geschichte<\/h3>\n<p>An der gleichen Stelle wurde bereits im fr\u00fchen 12. Jahrhundert eine Steinbr\u00fccke gebaut, die <strong>erste Steinbr\u00fccke Deutschlands<\/strong>. Im 15. Jahrhundert wurde die inzwischen besch\u00e4ftigte Br\u00fccke jedoch dann neu errichtet. Die steinernen Pfeiler wurden zun\u00e4chst mit Holzb\u00f6gen verbunden, bis man 1512 zu Stein wechselte. Dies geschah vor allem aus \u00f6konomischen Gr\u00fcnden: man wollte die Unterhaltskosten f\u00fcr eine Holzkonstruktion sparen. <\/p>\n<h3>W\u00e4chter der Br\u00fccke<\/h3>\n<p>Die <strong>barocken Steinfiguren<\/strong>, die heute der Mainbr\u00fccke ihren besonderen Charakter verleihen, haben ebenfalls eine bewegte Vergangenheit. 1730 erstmals aufgestellt, wurden sie 1912 zerschlagen, um f\u00fcr den Stra\u00dfenbau genutzt zu werden. Nach zwei Jahrhunderten Bauzeit war die Kirche dann im Jahr 1237 mit dem Bau der Ostt\u00fcrme vollendet. W\u00e4hrend einige Teile der Kirche nach der Zerst\u00f6rung von 1945 wiederaufgebaut werden mussten, sind die Stuckdekorationen im Querhaus und im Chor noch original erhalten. Der Au\u00dfenanstrich wurde im Zuge der Renovierungen ebenfalls aufgefrischt, orientiert sich aber an der urspr\u00fcnglichen Farbgebung. <\/p>\n<h3>Die Sch\u00f6nbornkapelle<\/h3>\n<p>An den Dom angeschlossen ist die Sch\u00f6nbornkapelle, die, wie so vieles in der Stadt, von Balthasar Neumann entworfen wurde. Urspr\u00fcnglich diente sie als <strong>Grablege f\u00fcr die F\u00fcrstbisch\u00f6fe<\/strong> aus dem Hause Sch\u00f6nborn. Es besteht, anders als die meisten Rath\u00e4user, nicht aus einem einzelnen Geb\u00e4ude, sondern aus einem Komplex verschiedener Bauten. Diese wurden urspr\u00fcnglich in den unterschiedlichsten Zeiten zu den verschiedensten Zwecken errichtet. Der \u00e4lteste Teil ist das <strong>Grafeneckart<\/strong>, dass bereits 1316 vom B\u00fcrgermeister und dem Rat der Stadt erworben wurde. Die Erweiterungen in den folgenden Jahrhunderten umfassten den Roten Bau aus dem 17. Jahrhundert und das s\u00e4kularisierte Kloster der Beschuhten Karmeliten, im 19. Jahrhundert vom Stadtrat \u00fcbernommen. <\/p>\n<h3>Eine Mischung unterschiedlicher Stile und Zeiten<\/h3>\n<p>Durch seine Kombination verschiedener Bauten repr\u00e4sentiert das W\u00fcrzburger Rathaus die unterschiedlichsten Epochen, die f\u00fcr die Stadt pr\u00e4gend waren. Das Grafeneckart mit seinem romanischen Turm und Profanraum aus dem 13. Jahrhundert und der Rote Bau im Stil der Sp\u00e4trenaissance werden erg\u00e4nzt durch moderne Anbauten. Die Hallenkirche stammt aus der Sp\u00e4tgotik und wurde im 14. und 15. Jahrhundert erbaut. Sie besteht \u00fcbrigens bis heute ohne pfarrkirchliche Rechte \u2013 daher der Name \u201eKapelle\u201c. Um die Kirche herum sind einige ebenfalls <strong>alte Kraml\u00e4den<\/strong> angesiedelt. <\/p>\n<h3>Ein Blick f\u00fcrs Detail<\/h3>\n<p>Viele <strong>namenhafte Stuckateure, Freskenmaler und Skulpteure<\/strong> haben an der Marienkapelle ihre Spuren hinterlassen. Achten Sie auf die vielen Verzierungen in den Portalen, besonders die Figuren Adam und Eva. Bei diesen handelt es sich jedoch inzwischen nur noch um Kopien \u2013 die Originale stehen im Mainfr\u00e4nkischen Museum. Die Tafelgem\u00e4lde \u00fcber den Alt\u00e4ren sind ebenfalls beeindruckend. Nachdem die Pieta bereits im mittleren 17. Jahrhundert Wunder und Erscheinungen ausgel\u00f6st haben soll, pilgerten immer mehr Gl\u00e4ubige aus der Region zur damals noch bestehende Gnadenkapelle. Im darauffolgenden Jahrhundert wurde die heutige Wallfahrtskirche daran angebaut, nach Pl\u00e4nen von Balthasar Neumann. Besonders an Pfingsten kommen immer noch zahlreiche Gl\u00e4ubige hierher, um die Pieta, die inzwischen zum Gnadenaltar der Kapelle geh\u00f6rt, zu besuchen. <\/p>\n<h3>Schon der Weg ist au\u00dfergew\u00f6hnlich<\/h3>\n<p>Am sch\u00f6nsten erreicht man die Wallfahrtskirche \u00fcber einen <strong>Stationsweg<\/strong>, der an 14 Kapellen und lebensgro\u00dfen Figurenpuppen vorbeif\u00fchrt. Sein Design stammt ebenfalls von Balthasar Neumann. Die Neum\u00fcnster Kirche war urspr\u00fcnglich eine romanische Basilika, die bereits im 11. Jahrhundert hier stand. Sp\u00e4ter wurde sie um einen Turm und einen Chor erg\u00e4nzt, im 18. Jahrhundert schlie\u00dflich folgte die m\u00e4chtige Kuppel und die Barockfassade. Der Innenraum wurde ebenfalls im Barockstil neugestaltet.
