Die Ringmauern mit den in Felsen geschlagenen H\u00f6hlen geh\u00f6rten einst zur <strong>Festungsanlage von Luxemburg<\/strong>. Sie gehen auf das 17. Jahrhundert zur\u00fcck und umfassten damals ein noch deutlich gr\u00f6\u00dferes H\u00f6hlensystem. Heute sind immerhin noch 17 km Kasematten erhalten, die sich \u00fcber mehrere Stockwerke erstrecken. <\/p>\n<h3>Besichtigung auf eigene Faust<\/h3>\n<p>Im Sommerhalbjahr k\u00f6nnen die Kasematten f\u00fcr nur wenige Euro Eintritt besichtigt werden. Dabei gehen Sie als Besucher selbstst\u00e4ndig auf Erkundungstour durch die <strong>verwinkelten G\u00e4nge und gewaltigen Treppen<\/strong>. Da findet man sich schon mal in einem scheinbar ewig in den Felsen hinabf\u00fchrenden Gang oder einem dunklen Korridor wieder. Aber keine Sorge, zwischendurch sind immer wieder Fenster in den Felsen gehauen, die Licht hineinlassen und dazu einen Blick \u00fcber die Stadt erlauben. <\/p>\n<h3>Der \u201esch\u00f6nste Kamin Europas\u201c<\/h3>\n<p>Die <strong>Aussichtsplattform Chemin de la Corniche<\/strong> geh\u00f6rt ebenfalls zu den Bockkasematten. Von hier \u00fcberblicken Sie die Luxemburger Altstadt und den tief im Tal gelegenen Stadtteil Barrio Grund. Fort Th\u00fcngen stammt aus dem 18. Jahrhundert und wurde im Laufe der Zeit mehrmals verst\u00e4rkt und erweitert. Hier steht die Kathedrale Notre Dame, das <strong>bedeutendste sakrale Bauwerk von Luxemburg<\/strong>. Sie stammt aus dem fr\u00fchen 17. Jahrhundert und wurde von Jesuiten im sp\u00e4tgotischen Stil errichtet. <\/p>\n<h3>Ein kleiner Abstecher auf den Vorplatz<\/h3>\n<p>Auf dem Place de la Constitucion findet sich \u00fcbrigens noch ein weiteres kleines Highlight: das <strong>Monument de Souvenir<\/strong>.
