Er ist es vor allem, weil man nirgendwo sonst die <strong>charakteristische Vulkanlandschaft<\/strong> in ihrer ganzen grandiosen Pracht bewundern kann. Schon die Anfahrt zum Besucherzentrum ist ein Abenteuer, f\u00fchrt sie doch \u00fcber gewundene Stra\u00dfen in einer bizarren Vulkanlandschaft. <\/p>\n<h3>Markante Landschaft<\/h3>\n<p>Die leuchtend rot-braunen Feuerberge, die <strong>Monta\u00f1as del Fuego<\/strong>, erkennt man schon von weitem. Die ungew\u00f6hnliche Landschaft geht auf eine Vielzahl von Vulkanausbr\u00fcchen in dem Zeitraum von 1739 bis 1736 zur\u00fcck. Etwa 100 Vulkane aus 300 Kratern spuckten gleichzeitig ihre Lava \u00fcber die Insel. Das Ergebnis dieser Naturgewalt ist so beeindruckend wie einzigartig.  <\/p>\n<h3>Mit Bus oder Kamel<\/h3>\n<p>Die Besichtigung des Nationalparks ist nur anhand von gef\u00fchrten Touren m\u00f6glich. Das ist bei ihrem Anblick nicht schwer zu verstehen. Leuchtend strahlt ihre Farbe inmitten des schwarzen vulkanischen Sandes und l\u00e4sst die Lagune umso au\u00dfergew\u00f6hnlicher erscheinen. <\/p>\n<h3>Algen im Vulkankrater<\/h3>\n<p>Der Ursprung der gr\u00fcnen Farbe liegt in einer <strong>Algenart<\/strong> mit dem sch\u00f6nen Namen Ruppia Maritima. Diese f\u00e4rbt das Meerwasser, das stets frisch aus dem Atlantik in die Lagune gesp\u00fclt wird. Als diese auf den Atlantik trafen, wurden senkrechte L\u00f6cher im Felsen geformt. Die Wellen zw\u00e4ngen sich durch diese L\u00f6cher hindurch und treten teilweise mit so viel Kraft auf der anderen Seite heraus, dass <strong>riesige Font\u00e4nen<\/strong> entstehen. Sie wandern auf kleinen K\u00fcstenwegen zwischen diesen L\u00f6chern umher und bekommen dabei nicht selten eine Ladung Gischt ins Gesicht gespritzt. Die Formationen im Vulkangestein erinnern an vielen Stellen an Tropfsteinh\u00f6hlen. Die Atmosph\u00e4re wird zus\u00e4tzlich durch geschickt platzierte Beleuchtung untermalt. Aus den Lautsprechern klingen dazu noch Ges\u00e4nge gregorianischer Ch\u00f6re.
