Selbst in einer Stadt, die \u00fcberf\u00fcllt ist mit antiken \u00dcberresten, sticht es durch seine ungew\u00f6hnliche Gr\u00f6\u00dfe und Bauart hervor, die Ihnen auf eindrucksvolle Weise die <strong>Bauk\u00fcnste der Antike<\/strong> vor Augen f\u00fchren.<\/p>\n<h3>Arena f\u00fcr Gladiatorenk\u00e4mpfe<\/h3>\n<p>Der Bau des Kolosseums dauerte bis ins Jahr 79 n. Chr. \u00dcber vier Jahrhunderte lang wurden hier Gladiatorenk\u00e4mpfe, Wagenrennen und weitere, meist blutige Schauspiele veranstaltet. Bis zu <strong>50.000 Zuschauer<\/strong> konnten in der Arena Platz finden, um bei diesen Spektakeln zuzusehen.<\/p>\n<h3>Das Ende der Auff\u00fchrungen<\/h3>\n<p>Zwei <strong>Erdbeben<\/strong> im 9. und 14. Jahrhundert besch\u00e4digten das Kolosseum so stark, dass es f\u00fcr Auff\u00fchrungen jeglicher Art gesperrt wurde. Ein ganz besonderer H\u00f6hepunkt ist der Dogenpalast auf dem ebenfalls bekannten <strong>Markusplatz<\/strong>, der noch von einigen anderen Sehensw\u00fcrdigkeiten umgeben ist.<\/p>\n<h3>Repr\u00e4sentativer Bau f\u00fcr die Venezianische Republik<\/h3>\n<p>Einige Elemente des heutigen Dogenpalastes stammen bereits aus dem 14. Jahrhundert. Lange Zeit war er <strong>Sitz der Venezianischen Regierung<\/strong>, die mit dem prunkvollen Bau ihren Reichtum zur Schau stellte. Auch Napoleon lebte einige Zeit in dem Anwesen. Heute beherbergt es ein Museum f\u00fcr moderne Kunst.<\/p>\n<h3>\u00dcberbleibsel der Vergangenheit<\/h3>\n<p>Einige architektonische Besonderheiten weisen bis heute auf vergangene Traditionen hin. Die beiden tiefroten S\u00e4ulen in der ersten Etage waren einst der Ort, an dem Todesurteile verk\u00fcndet wurden. Dabei war dessen Neigung kaum beabsichtigt. Zu Beginn seiner Erbauung im zw\u00f6lften Jahrhundert stand der Turm noch gerade. Bereits zw\u00f6lf Jahre nach der Grundsteinlegung begann er jedoch, sich merklich zur Seite zu neigen.<\/p>\n<h3>Anpassung des Baus<\/h3>\n<p>Der Grund f\u00fcr die Neigung ist der <strong>lehmige Morast und Sand<\/strong>, auf dem der Turm steht. Dies f\u00fchrte zu einem hundertj\u00e4hrigen Baustopp. Als man schlie\u00dflich weiterbaute, entschloss man sich, den Turm statt den urspr\u00fcnglich geplanten 100 m nur 54 m hoch zu bauen.<\/p>\n<h3>Der Kampf gegen das Umfallen<\/h3>\n<p>In den 90er Jahren konnte eine <strong>Verringerung des Neigungswinkels<\/strong> um ca. 1,5 Grad erreicht werden. Nach Sch\u00e4tzungen wird es nun noch etwa 300 Jahre dauern, bis der Turm schlie\u00dflich gegen die Schwerkraft und den weichen Boden verliert. Jahrhundert wurden die \u00dcberreste von Pompeji wiederentdeckt.
