Die <strong>weltbekannte Br\u00fccke<\/strong> in dem pr\u00e4gnanten Orange-Rot f\u00fchrt \u00fcber die Golden-Gate-Stra\u00dfe, die den Atlantik mit der San Francisco Bay verbindet.<\/p>\n<h3>Blick auf und von einem Wahrzeichen<\/h3>\n<p>Die Golden Gate Bridge sollten Sie nicht nur von weitem betrachten, sondern auch einmal selbst \u00fcberqueren. Am besten geht das mit dem Fahrrad oder zu Fu\u00df, um in Ruhe den <strong>Blick \u00fcber die Bucht von <a href=\"https:\/\/www.travelcircus.de\/urlaubsziele\/san-francisco-sehenswuerdigkeiten\/\">San Francisco<\/a><\/strong> zu genie\u00dfen \u2013 falls die Br\u00fccke mal nicht, wie meistens, in Nebel geh\u00fcllt ist.<\/p>\n<h3>Das pr\u00e4gnanteste Merkmal war ein Unfall<\/h3>\n<p>Die rote Farbe der Golden Gate Bridge war urspr\u00fcnglich gar nicht geplant. Eigentlich handelte es sich bei dem auff\u00e4lligen Farbton lediglich um ein <strong>Rostschutzmittel<\/strong>, sp\u00e4ter sollte dieses in einem gew\u00f6hnlichen grau \u00fcbergestrichen werden. An die 300 dieser hei\u00dfen Quellen finden sich im Yellowstone, die H\u00e4lfte aller Geysire weltweit. Borglum \u00fcberzeugt ihn jedoch, stattdessen vier der bedeutendsten amerikanischen Pr\u00e4sidenten zu verewigen.<\/p>\n<h3>14 Jahre Arbeit<\/h3>\n<p><strong>1927 begannen die Arbeiten<\/strong> am Mount Rushmore, an denen \u00fcber 400 Arbeiter beteiligt waren. Erst 14 Jahre sp\u00e4ter ist das Kunstwerk fertiggestellt. Borglum selbst erlebt dies nicht mehr; er stirbt wenige Monate zuvor.
