Er wurde 1885 gegr\u00fcndet und erhielt seinen Namen von der kleinen Stadt Banff, vor dessen Toren er beginnt.<\/p>\n<h3>Von Bergen gepr\u00e4gt<\/h3>\n<p>Der Banff Nationalpark wird von den <strong>Rocky Mountains<\/strong> durchzogen, daher ist er landschaftlich gepr\u00e4gt von Bergen, T\u00e4lern und Seen. Zu den H\u00f6hepunkten geh\u00f6ren der beeindruckende Mount Rundle, der hoch \u00fcber gr\u00fcnen Nadelw\u00e4ldern thront, sowie der Pilot Mountain und das wundersch\u00f6ne Tal der 10 Gipfel.<\/p>\n<h3>Aktivit\u00e4ten im Nationalpark<\/h3>\n<p>Zahlreiche sportliche Aktivit\u00e4ten bieten sich im Banff Nationalpark an. Neben Wandern und Mountainbiken sind das vor allem Klettern und Reiten. In vielen Bergseen ist zudem das Baden und Bootfahren erlaubt. Das Hauptziel vieler Besucher ist dabei der Rundfunkturm der Stadt, der <strong>Canadian National Tower<\/strong> oder kurz CN-Tower.<\/p>\n<h3>Weit sichtbares Wahrzeichen<\/h3>\n<p>Der CN-Tower in Torontos S\u00fcdstadt ragt beeindruckende 553 m in den kanadischen Himmel. Bis ins Jahr 2009 war er damit der <strong>h\u00f6chste Fernsehturm der Welt<\/strong>. Noch heute gilt er als das weltweit zweith\u00f6chste freistehende Geb\u00e4ude.<\/p>\n<h3>Blick \u00fcber die Stadt<\/h3>\n<p>Zuverl\u00e4ssig erf\u00fcllt der CN-Tower seine Rolle als Rundfunkturm und sendet \u00fcber 30 Fernseh- und Rundfunkprogramme in die Stadt. Daneben beheimatet er allerdings auch Restaurants und Nachtclubs, sowie mehrere <strong>Aussichtsplattformen<\/strong>. Kein Wunder: Das <strong>UNESCO-Weltnaturerbe<\/strong> vor der Ostk\u00fcste Kanadas verzaubert seine Besucher mit weitl\u00e4ufigen W\u00e4ldern, m\u00e4chtigen Inlandsfjorden und abwechslungsreicher Tierwelt \u2013 trotzdem hat die Insel bis heute eher Geheimtippstatus und ist wenig \u00fcberlaufen.<\/p>\n<h3>Landschaft der Kontraste<\/h3>\n<p>Der wohl bekannteste Teil von Neufundland sind die <strong>Tablelands<\/strong>. In der w\u00fcstenartigen Ein\u00f6de in Rot- und Ockert\u00f6nen wachsen fast keine Pflanzen. Im wirkungsvollen Kontrast dazu stehen die Green Gardens, einer der gr\u00fcnsten und fruchtbarsten Teile der Insel, der direkt hinter den Tablelands beginnt.<\/p>\n<h3>Gro\u00dfer Artenreichtum<\/h3>\n<p>Auf Neufundland leben zahlreiche Wildtiere wie Luchse, B\u00e4ren oder Rentiere. Dazu kommen unz\u00e4hlige, fast <strong>zutrauliche Elche<\/strong>, die hier vor \u00fcber einem Jahrhundert angesiedelt wurden, um sie zu jagen. Sie vermehrten sich jedoch so sehr, dass heute etwa viermal so viele Elche wie Menschen auf der Insel leben. Es liegt gesch\u00fctzt im Schatten der Rocky Mountains und der Coastal Range, im Norden wird die Pr\u00e4rie von borealen Nadelw\u00e4ldern eingerahmt. Der durch das Tal flie\u00dfende Saskatchewan-Fluss bew\u00e4ssert die zahlreichen Seen in der Umgebung.<\/p>\n<h3>Jagen und Angeln<\/h3>\n<p>Neben Touristen verschl\u00e4gt es vor allem J\u00e4ger und Angler h\u00e4ufig nach Saskatchewan. Die Seenlandschaft gilt als eines der besten S\u00fc\u00dfwasser-Angelgebiete Kanadas.
