Ihr Turm dominiert mit seinen 71 m H\u00f6he das Stadtbild von Colmar.<\/p>\n<h3>Kirche oder Kathedrale?<\/h3>\n<p>Nach der Franz\u00f6sischen Revolution war Saint Martin f\u00fcr kurze Zeit eine Kathedrale und wird teilweise noch heute als <strong>Cath\u00e9drale de Saint Martin<\/strong> bezeichnet. Offiziell ist sie jedoch eine Stiftskirche. Ihrer architektonischen Imposanz tut dies allerdings keinerlei Abbruch.<\/p>\n<h3>Auff\u00e4llige Architektur<\/h3>\n<p>Beim Betrachten der auch Martinsm\u00fcnster genannten Kirche fallen sofort die <strong>auff\u00e4lligen gr\u00fcnen Dachziegel<\/strong> ins Auge. Jahrhundert<\/strong>, das in der Rue des Marchands liegt. Obwohl es noch einige architektonische Merkmale aus dem Mittelalter aufweist, gilt es generell als erster Bau im Renaissance-Stil in Colmar.<\/p>\n<h3>Symbol des alten Colmars<\/h3>\n<p>Ein reicher Hutmacher lie\u00df das Pfisterhaus um 1537 errichten. Seinen Namen erhielt es jedoch erst im 19. Jahrhundert, nach der Familie, die es zu dieser Zeit bewohnte. Es war einst das Wohnhaus des bekannten franz\u00f6sischen <strong>Bildhauers Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Auguste Bartholdi<\/strong>, der die New Yorker Freiheitsstatue geschaffen hat. Er vermachte es nach seinem Tod an die Stadt, unter der Bedingung, dass es f\u00fcr Kunst genutzt wird. Todestag von Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Auguste Bartholdi, wurde vor der Stadt ein <strong>Abbild der New Yorker Freiheitsstatue<\/strong> aufgestellt.<\/p>\n<h3>Kleinere Kopie<\/h3>\n<p>Die Freiheitsstaue von Colmar ist aus Kunstharz gefertigt und sieht genauso aus wie das Original in New York City, ist allerdings mit nur <strong>12 m H\u00f6he<\/strong> deutlich kleiner. Die Dominikanerkirche ist nach der Kirche Saint Martin das gr\u00f6\u00dfte und wichtigste Gotteshaus von Colmar.<\/p>\n<h3>Mittelalterliche Kirche<\/h3>\n<p>Der Bau der Dominikanerkirche begann bereits 1238 und dauerte bis ins 14. Jahrhundert an. Das Dach und der Kreuzgang mussten nach einem Brand 1458 wiederaufgebaut werden. 1720 wurde der bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt eher schlichten Kirche ein <strong>barockes Dekor<\/strong> verpasst.<\/p>\n<h3>Heimat von Kunstwerken<\/h3>\n<p>Ein bedeutender Teil der kirchlichen Inneneinrichtung war der Altar der Dominikaner von dem K\u00fcnstler Martin Schongauer, der inzwischen im Unterlinden-Museum zu bewundern ist.
