Im Zweiten Weltkrieg, genauer 1942, wurde in den Koolau-Bergen auf der Insel O\u2019ahu eine Treppe mit Holzstufen erbaut, so dass Bauarbeiter dort Telefonkabel f\u00fcr den Funkturm der US-Marine verlegen konnten.<\/p>\n<p>2003 wurden die sogenannten Haiku Stairs restauriert und das Holz durch Metallstufen ersetzt. Nichtsdestotrotz ist das <strong>Betreten der \u201cTreppe in den Himmel\u201d bereits seit den 1980er Jahren illegal.<\/strong> Rund um die Uhr ist Wachpersonal stationiert. Wer erwischt wird, muss 600 $ Strafe zahlen.<\/p>\n<p>Doch das h\u00e4lt mutige Wanderer und Adrenalinjunkies nicht davon ab, sich am Wachpersonal vorbeizuschleichen und die Stufen hinauf- und hinabzusteigen. <strong>Insgesamt 3.922 Stufen voller Nervenkitzel<\/strong> z\u00e4hlen die Haiku Stairs vom Fu\u00df bis zum Gipfel der Koolau-Berge, um 600 H\u00f6henmeter zu \u00fcberwinden. Heike Mutter und Ulrich Genth entwarfen Tiger &amp; Turtle anl\u00e4sslich der <strong>Auszeichnung des Ruhrgebiets zur Kulturhauptstadt<\/strong> des Jahres 2010. Animalisch angelehnt an Geschwindigkeit und Stillstand, steht das Konstrukt damit als Metapher f\u00fcr die Umbruchsituation des Ruhrgebiets.<\/p>\n<p>Immerhin 20 Meter ragt die Achterbahn-Treppe in den Himmel \u00fcber der Heinrich-Hildebrand-H\u00f6he in Duisburg und bietet damit Aussichten \u00fcber den Rhein bis nach D\u00fcsseldorf. Bis auf den Looping ist die <strong>220 Meter lange Konstruktion<\/strong> Tiger &amp; Turtle komplett begehbar. Insgesamt 220 Stufen k\u00f6nnen seit der Er\u00f6ffnung am 12. Die meisten von ihnen geben sich dem ultimativen Nervenkitzel bei einer Wanderung zum Lotusbl\u00fctengipfel hin. Mit 1.864 Metern ist er der h\u00f6chste Ausflugspunkt von Huangshan.<\/p>\n<p>Bereits die <strong>Gondelfahrt zur Bergstation in 1.300 m H\u00f6he<\/strong> sorgt f\u00fcr Adrenalin im Blut. Doch f\u00fcr den Aufstieg der letzten 564 Meter bis zum Gipfel geh\u00f6ren vor allem noch Schwindelfreiheit und Mut dazu.<\/p>\n<p>Insgesamt 60.000 Treppenstufen winden sich um den Berg herum \u2013 teils sicher, teils weniger. Oft trennen nur ein Seil oder eine d\u00fcnne Eisenstange die Stufen vom steilen Abgrund. Die <strong>Wanderung dauert rund sechs Stunden.<\/strong> Doch keine Sorge: Trotz des drohenden Oberschenkel-Muskelkaters lohnt sich wohl kaum etwas so sehr wie diese Aussicht!
