Jede von ihnen ist <strong>zwischen 23.000 und 87.000 m\u00b2 gro\u00df und frei verk\u00e4uflich:<\/strong> Die Preise liegen zwischen 11 und 40 Millionen US-$.<\/p>\n<p>Klingt erstmal nach einem arabischen Luxusdomizil, das an Extravaganz kaum zu \u00fcberbieten ist, oder? Nicht ganz, denn <strong>seit der Weltfinanzkrise 2007 steht das Projekt nahezu still.<\/strong> Seither sieht sich die k\u00fcnstliche Inselgruppe mit Versandung, St\u00fcrmen und einem steigenden Meeresspiegel konfrontiert. Die Folge: Der Zustand von \u201cThe World\u201d verschlechtert sich zusehends.<\/p>\n<h3>200 verkauft, 2 bebaut<\/h3>\n<p>W\u00e4hrend sich die Formen der einzelnen Inseln verwaschen, f\u00e4llt es immer schwerer, die Kontinente abzugrenzen. Teile von Australien und Mittelamerika sind bereits versunken. Obwohl mittlerweile <strong>200 der 300 Inseln verkauft<\/strong> sind, fehlt das Geld, um die Sch\u00e4den zu beheben. Erst zwei Inseln sind so bebaut, dass sie auch benutzbar sind, darunter die Modellinsel des Libanon, die mit dem Royal Island Beach Club Touristen anlockt.<\/p>\n<p>Bei all den gro\u00dfen Erwartungen bleibt letztlich eine Frage im Raum stehen: Haben sich die <strong>14 Milliarden US-$ Baukosten<\/strong> wirklich gelohnt oder wird \u201cThe World\u201d irgendwann komplett untergehen?<\/p>\n<div class=\"tipp_center\"><strong>Aus 3 mach 1 \u00bd:<\/strong> The World ist nicht das einzige Projekt, mit dem Dubai sich schwer tut. Auch die Palm Islands weichen mittlerweile vom Plan ab. So waren einst drei Inselgruppen geplant, von denen bisher nur eine bebaut und befahrbar ist. Bei der zweiten Insel wurde nur Land gewonnen, die Planung der dritten Insel wurde g\u00e4nzlich verworfen.<\/div>\n<hr \/>\n<blockquote><p>2. Einst geplant, um die beiden Berliner Flugh\u00e4fen Tegel und Sch\u00f6nefeld zu ersetzen, <strong>verz\u00f6gert sich die Fertigstellung nun schon um acht Jahre.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Als gr\u00f6\u00dfte Flughafenbaustelle Europas feierte der BER seinen Spatenstich bereits 2006. Nach ersten Angaben sollte der Flughafen Ende 2011 seinen Betrieb aufnehmen, eine Terminkorrektur setzte den offiziellen Starttermin auf Juni 2012. Seither wurde die Inbetriebnahme des Flughafens <strong>aufgrund technischer und baulicher M\u00e4ngel immer wieder verschoben.<\/strong> Die Baudefizite und das Versagen des Managements lie\u00dfen den BER zum Skandal der Baugeschichte mutieren.<\/p>\n<div class=\"tipp_center\"><strong>Fatal versch\u00e4tzt:<\/strong> Urspr\u00fcnglich wurden f\u00fcr den BER Kosten von rund 2,5 Milliarden Euro einkalkuliert \u2013 bis zum Bauende soll die Summe auf 6,6 Milliarden Euro steigen.<\/div>\n<h3>6,6 Milliarden Euro f\u00fcr 28 Millionen Flugg\u00e4ste<\/h3>\n<p>Aktuell ist geplant, den Flughafen sp\u00e4testens 2021 fertigzustellen. Jedes Jahr soll der BER dann 28 Millionen Passagiere abfertigen k\u00f6nnen; bis 2035 sind sogar <strong>Erweiterungsbauten f\u00fcr bis zu 58 Millionen Flugg\u00e4ste geplant.<\/strong> Stellt sich nur die Frage, ob bis dahin \u00fcberhaupt der generelle Flugbetrieb aufgenommen werden kann \u2013 denn ernst nehmen die Berliner und Brandenburger die Termine des BER schon lange nicht mehr.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<blockquote><p>3. Zu finden waren unter anderem Nachbauten des Arc de Triomphe und venezianische Kan\u00e4le.<\/p>\n<h3>13 Jahre Geisterhaus<\/h3>\n<p>2005 er\u00f6ffnet, rechnete die New South China Mall mit 100.000 Besuchern pro Tag sowie 2.300 gef\u00fcllten Shops. Doch das Einkaufszentrum <strong>erinnerte 13 Jahre lang eher an ein Geisterhaus.<\/strong> Erst in den letzten Monaten f\u00fcllten sich die leeren Fl\u00e4chen der Mall \u2013 wenn auch bei Weitem nicht im erwarteten Ausma\u00df.<\/p>\n<p>Grund daf\u00fcr: Seit Kurzem konzentriert sich das Management auf die chinesische Mittelklasse anstatt auf Luxus. Doch seither wurde der <strong>Starttermin immer wieder verschoben,<\/strong> unter anderem aufgrund von Antriebsproblemen des Raumfahrzeuges.<\/p>\n<p>Doch es kam noch weitaus schlimmer: W\u00e4hrend eines Tests des Raketenantriebs starben drei Ingenieure, als der Tank mit Stickstoffoxiden explodierte. 2014 f\u00fchrten technische M\u00e4ngel dazu, dass die SpaceShipTwo-Prototyp VSS Enterprise <strong>bei einem Testflug auseinanderbrach.<\/strong> Co-Pilot Mike Alsbury kam dabei ums Leben.<\/p>\n<h3>250.000 $ f\u00fcr 6 Minuten Schwerelosigkeit<\/h3>\n<p>Trotz der langen Wartezeit und der tragischen Todesf\u00e4lle haben sich bisher <strong>600 Anw\u00e4rter einen Flug mit Virgin Galactic reserviert<\/strong> \u2013 darunter Leonardo DiCaprio und Justin Bieber. Insgesamt dauert eine Tour vom Start bis zur Landung rund 3,5 Stunden. Etwa sechs Minuten verbringen die Passagiere dabei in Schwerelosigkeit. Doch der Preis hat es in sich: 250.000 US-$ m\u00fcssen Weltraumtouristen f\u00fcr eine Fahrt mit Virgin Galactic hinbl\u00e4ttern.<\/p>\n<div class=\"tipp_center\"><strong>Ansichtssache:<\/strong> Ob es sich bei Virigin Galactic tats\u00e4chlich um Weltraumtourismus handelt, dar\u00fcber l\u00e4sst sich streiten. Auf einer Fl\u00e4che von fast 30 Hektar freuten sich Besucher \u00fcber ein Riesenrad, verschiedene Fahrgesch\u00e4fte und Rummelbuden. J\u00e4hrlich z\u00e4hlte der Park 1,7 Millionen G\u00e4ste.<\/p>\n<p>Nach der Wiedervereinigung \u00fcbernahm 1991 Schausteller Norbert Witte den Spreepark. Allerdings hatte der Berliner Senat vers\u00e4umt, seinen Hintergrund zu pr\u00fcfen: 1981 kollidierte Wittes Teleskopkran auf einem Volksfest mit einem anderen Karussell, <strong>wobei sieben Menschen ums Leben kamen.<\/strong> Deutschlandweit verweigerten Rummelpl\u00e4tze dem Schausteller seither die Stellpl\u00e4tze.<\/p>\n<h3>11 Millionen Euro Schulden &amp; 160 kg Kokain<\/h3>\n<p>Trotz Wittes Vergangenheit schien der Spreepark von Grund auf neu zu erbl\u00fchen. So wurde er durch Wildwasser- und Achterbahnen, ein Westerndorf sowie ein englisches Dorf erweitert und passte sich immer mehr den westlichen Vorbildern an. Doch ab <strong>1999 brachen die Besucherzahlen ein:<\/strong> Pro Jahr z\u00e4hlte der Spreepark nur noch 400.000 G\u00e4ste.<\/p>\n<p>Mit einem Schuldenpensum von 11 Millionen Euro musste der Spreepark 2001 Insolvenz anmelden und wurde 2002 geschlossen. Seither verwahrlost das Gel\u00e4nde. Witte setzte sich indes mit seiner Familie nach Peru ab, um dort einen anderen Freizeitpark zu leiten \u2013 welcher \u00fcbrigens ebenfalls pleite ging. Beim R\u00fccktransport nach Deutschland dann der gr\u00f6\u00dfte Skandal: Witte versteckte \u00fcber <strong>160 Kilogramm Kokain im Mast eines Fahrgesch\u00e4ftes,<\/strong> wurde erwischt und zu einer Haftstrafe verurteilt \u2013 die er bereits vorzeitig verlassen durfte.<\/p>\n<div class=\"tipp_center\"><strong>Der zur\u00fcckgelassene Sohn:<\/strong> Auch Wittes Sohn wurde wegen des Schmuggelvorfalls noch in Peru festgenommen und zu 20 Jahren Haft verurteilt \u2013 obwohl er nichts vom Kokain wusste.<\/div>\n<h3>Doch noch ein Happy End?<\/h3>\n<p>Anfang 2014 kaufte das Land Berlin den Spreepark zur\u00fcck, um ihn anderweitig nutzen zu k\u00f6nnen. Doch technische Probleme und unzureichende Sicherheitskonzepte f\u00fchrten dazu, dass die Stahlachterbahn erst am 31.10.2013 f\u00fcr Besucher zug\u00e4nglich war \u2013 mit 160 statt 217 km\/h.<\/p>\n<p>Klingt erstmal nicht dramatisch, oder? Doch bereits vier Tage nach Er\u00f6ffnung, genauer am 03.11.2013, <strong>stellte der ring\u00b0racer nach nur 2.000 Fahrg\u00e4sten den Fahrbetrieb ein<\/strong> \u2013 wegen Insolvenz des N\u00fcrburgrings. Als neuer Eigent\u00fcmer gab Capricorn bekannt, den ring\u00b0racer komplett stillzulegen. Seither steht die Achterbahn nun leblos neben der Rennstrecke und erinnert an die \u00fcberm\u00fctige Hoffnung von vor 10 Jahren.<\/p>\n<div class=\"tipp_center\"><strong>ring\u00b0racer l\u00e4sst Fenster platzen:<\/strong> Bei den Bauarbeiten im September 2009 erlitten einige Arbeiter ein Knalltrauma, weil der Antrieb vermutlich ungebremst gegen den Endanschlag raste \u2013 sogar Fenster in der Entfernung platzten.<\/div>\n<hr \/>\n<blockquote><p>11. Insgesamt 10 Linien verlaufen durch die gesamte Hauptstadt, darunter die U1 bis U9 plus die zur U5 geh\u00f6renden U55. Was viele nicht wissen: Urspr\u00fcnglich war <strong>zus\u00e4tzlich eine U-Bahnlinie 10 geplant.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>Geistergleise von Berlin<\/h3>\n<p>In der U-Bahnplanung von 1955 sollte die Linie 10 \u2013 damals noch Linie F genannt \u2013 von Wei\u00dfensee \u00fcber den Alexanderplatz und Potsdamer Platz <strong>bis zur Drakestra\u00dfe in Lichterfelde<\/strong> f\u00fchren. Aufgrund der Stadtteilung in Ost und West wurde die Linie allerdings trotz konkreter Planung nicht durchgesetzt.<\/p>\n<p>Das Kuriose: Einige Bahnh\u00f6fe sind dennoch ausgebaut worden. So finden sich beispielsweise am Rathaus Steglitz und am Alexanderplatz f\u00fcr die Linie 10 vorgesehene Gleise, am Innsbrucker Platz sogar ein Rohbau. Umsonst, wie sich herausstellte: 1993 wurde die U10 wegen Parallelf\u00fchrung zur U3 g\u00e4nzlich verworfen. Oktober 2004 feierte das Musical vom Radio 1-DJ Premiere im Londoner Shaw Theatre \u2013 und wurde anschlie\u00dfend <strong>direkt abgesetzt.<\/strong> Mit nur einer einzigen Vorstellung ist es damit das Musical mit der k\u00fcrzesten Laufzeit aller Zeiten.<\/p>\n<p>Noch nie waren Londoner Kritiken so verheerend: F\u00fcr die zweite Vorstellung von \u201cOscar Wilde\u201d wurden nur noch f\u00fcnf von 466 Karten verkauft. Nicht nur zweifelten Theaterexperten an der Besetzung des St\u00fccks, auch sahen sich die Zuschauer dauerhaft starken Tonproblemen ausgesetzt.
