M\u00e4rz wieder <strong>Internationaler Frauentag<\/strong>.<br \/>\nEin Grund zu feiern \u2013  auch wenn wir finden, dass Frauen auch an allen anderen 364 Tagen im Jahr gefeiert werden sollten. Frauen sind gro\u00dfartig, sie bewegen und bereichern die Welt in all ihren Facetten. So nat\u00fcrlich auch in der Reisebranche.<\/p>\n<p>Anl\u00e4sslich des Frauentages haben sich die <strong>Reiseexperten von Travelcircus<\/strong> auf die Suche nach gro\u00dfartigen Reise-Pionierinnen gemacht. Dabei ist eine Reise von der Vergangenheit bis in die Gegenwart herausgekommen, die die unterschiedlichsten Frauen vorstellt. <\/p>\n<p>Eins haben aber alle acht Frauen gemeinsam: Keine von ihnen hat sich von Nichts und Niemandem aufhalten lassen. Zusammen mit ihrem Ehemann William Hunter Workman ging sie auf viele unterschiedliche Entdeckungsreisen: Sie unternahmen viele Reisen mit dem Rad, zum Beispiel fuhren sie  von Spanien bis nach Marokko und legten dabei eine <strong>unglaubliche Gesamtstrecke von 4.500 Kilometern<\/strong> zur\u00fcck.<\/p>\n<p>Im Anschluss daran erfolgte eine zehn Jahre andauernde Radreise mit zahlreichen Zwischenstopps schlie\u00dflich bis zum Himalaya. Dort verbrachten sie insgesamt 14 Jahre. Dabei wanderte Fanny Bullock Workman insgesamt eine Strecke von <strong>6.500 km in Eis und Schnee und erklomm 20 Berge mit \u00fcber 4.850 Metern H\u00f6he<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>1906 bestieg sie zusammen mit ihrem Mann und einem Begleiter den Pinnacle Peak und stellte damit den <strong>H\u00f6henrekord f\u00fcr Frauen<\/strong> auf: Workman war f\u00fcr lange Zeit die erste Frau, die jemals auf einer H\u00f6he von 6930 Metern gewandert war.<\/p>\n<p>Ihre unz\u00e4hligen Erlebnisse, die sie auf ihren vielen Entdeckungsreisen erlebte, hielt sie in B\u00fcchern fest, sodass die Nachwelt auch heute noch an ihren einzigartigen Leistungen und Erfahrungen teilhaben kann.  <\/p>\n<hr>\n<h3>Reise-Pionierin 2: Dame Freya Madeline Stark (1893 \u2013 1993) \u2013 Faszination Orient: Die Entdeckung des Tals der Assassinen<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.travelcircus.dev\/urlaubsziele\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Agypten_unsplash.jpg\" alt=\"8 Reise-Pionierinnen\" width=\"1980\" height=\"1485\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-22428\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.travelcircus.de\/urlaubsziele\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Agypten_unsplash.jpg 1980w, https:\/\/www.travelcircus.de\/urlaubsziele\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Agypten_unsplash-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.travelcircus.de\/urlaubsziele\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Agypten_unsplash-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.travelcircus.de\/urlaubsziele\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Agypten_unsplash-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.travelcircus.de\/urlaubsziele\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Agypten_unsplash-1536x1152.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1980px) 100vw, 1980px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Freya Stark wurde 1893 in Paris geboren. Ihre Reiseleidenschaft wurde bereits an ihrem neunten Geburtstag geweckt, als sie die fantastischen Erz\u00e4hlungen Tausendundeine Nacht von Verwandten geschenkt bekam. <\/p>\n<p>Fortan galt ihre Neugier dem Orient. Ihre <strong>Faszination der Orientalischen Welt<\/strong> ging dabei so weit, dass sie sp\u00e4ter Arabisch sowie Persisch lernte und Geschichte in London studierte.<br \/>\nGetrieben von ihrem Interesse reiste sie zwischen 1927 und 1979 vor allem haupts\u00e4chlich in den Nahen Osten und verfasste mehrere B\u00fccher \u00fcber ihre Erlebnisse. <\/p>\n<p>Bekanntheit erlangte sie mit ihrer Entdeckungsreise 1930 in das <strong>damals noch unerforschte Tal der Assassinen<\/strong> und dem im Anschluss daran verfassten Reisebericht The Valley of the Assassins. Seitdem galt sie als Forschungsreisende. 1972 wurde ihr der Titel Dame Commander durch die K\u00f6nigin des Vereinten K\u00f6nigreichs Gro\u00dfbritannien und Nordirland Elisabeth II. verliehen. <\/p>\n<p>Weitere Erkundungen f\u00fchrten sie unter anderem noch in den Jemen oder nach \u00c4gypten. Sie reckte ihren Hals gen Himmel und beobachtete die Flugzeuge dabei, wie sie einen Salto nach dem anderen flogen. Kein Wunder also, dass ihre <strong>Begeisterung f\u00fcr die Fliegerei<\/strong> und alles, was auch nur im Entferntesten damit zu tun hatte, im Jahr 1920 geweckt wurde. <\/p>\n<p>Nur ein Jahr sp\u00e4ter absolvierte sie ihre eigene Fluglizenz, fortan war ihr kein Himmel zu weit. Sie stellte sogar einen Weltrekord auf: Als e<strong>rste Frau flog sie auf einer Flugh\u00f6he von 4.300 Metern<\/strong>. Ihren Lebensunterhalt konnte sie aber leider nicht von Fliegerei finanzieren, f\u00fcr ihre waghalsigen Unternehmungen war sie auf Sponsoren angewiesen.<\/p>\n<p>Am 20. Mai 1932 \u00fcberquerte sie im <strong>Alleinflug den Atlantik<\/strong>. Dieser Erfolg allein reicht ihr aber nicht. Gepackt vom Streben nach mehr, unternahm sie f\u00fcnf Jahre sp\u00e4ter den Versuch einer Weltumrundung. Diese Solo-Weltumrundung sollte ihr allerdings zum Verh\u00e4ngnis werden. Auf der Strecke von Neuguinea zur Howlandinsel geriet die US-Amerikanerin in Not. Es gelang ihr nicht, Funksignale zu empfangen, weshalb sie augenscheinlich in Not \u00fcber dem Pazifik orientierungslos umher flog, bis der Funkkontakt vollst\u00e4ndig abbrach.<\/p>\n<p>An ihrem geplanten Ziel, der Howlandinsel, kam sie nie an. Auch eine gro\u00dfangelegte <strong>Suchaktion durch die US-Regierung<\/strong> brachte kein Erfolg. Sie erlernte zun\u00e4chst den Beruf der Kfz-Mechanikerin und \u00fcbernahm nach dem Tod des Vaters zusammen mit ihrer Schwester das familieneigene Autohaus. <\/p>\n<p>Sie wurde zu einem <strong>gro\u00dfen Oldtimer-Fan<\/strong> und fuhr f\u00fcr ihr Leben gern Auto-Rallyes. Die begeisterte Rennfahrerin nahm an vielen Wettbewerben teil und gewann unz\u00e4hlige Preise und Auszeichnungen. Bis 2012 leitete sie eines der gr\u00f6\u00dften Autoh\u00e4user in Berlin.<\/p>\n<p>Im Juli 2014, <strong>im stolzen Alter von 77 Jahren<\/strong>, begab sie sich auf eine Weltreise, nat\u00fcrlich mit einem Oldtimer. Das aus den 1930er Jahren stammende Gef\u00e4hrt Hudo begleitete sie treu von Berlin nach Osteuropa, weiter \u00fcber Teheran bis nach China und anschlie\u00dfend in Richtung Australien.<\/p>\n<p>Im zweiten Abschnitt ihrer Reise durchquerte sie nach dem \u00dcbersetzen auf den amerikanischen Kontinent <strong>zun\u00e4chst Kanada, anschlie\u00dfend die USA und S\u00fcdamerika<\/strong>. Im letzten Teil ihrer Weltreise setzte sie nach Afrika \u00fcber und erkundete einige L\u00e4nder im S\u00fcden des afrikanischen Kontinents. Mit einem Frachtschiff ging es f\u00fcr die Berlinerin gemeinsam mit Hudo zur\u00fcck in Richtung Europa, wo sie im M\u00e4rz 2017 am Brandenburger Tor sowohl von Freunden als auch Familie nach zweieinhalb Jahren wieder herzlich in die Arme geschlossen werden konnte.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h3>Reise-Pionierin 5: Karen Darke (* 1971) \u2013 Eine Paralympia-Siegerin und die gr\u00f6nl\u00e4ndischen Eiskappen: 600 km Schnee und Eis<\/h3>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CavB9gtIKTG\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\" style=\" background:#FFF; In ihrer \u00fcber <strong>zehn Jahre andauernden professionellen Sportkarriere<\/strong> nahm sie mehrfach erfolgreich an den Paralympischen Spielen teil. In London gewann sie 2012 die Silbermedaille im Zeitfahren, wohingegen sie vier Jahre sp\u00e4ter in Rio de Janeiro sogar zur Paralympia-Siegerin gekr\u00f6nt wurde. Auch an ihrer Abenteuerlust kann Karen Darke Nichts hindern. Ob mit dem <strong>Handfahrrad, einem Kajak oder im Sitz-Ski<\/strong>, es gibt kaum ein Fortbewegungsmittel, mit dem die heute 50-J\u00e4hrige noch nicht unterwegs auf Reisen war.<\/p>\n<p>So \u00fcberquerte sie im Jahr 1996 mit einem Handfahrrad das Himalaya-Gebirge oder verbrachte 2002 auf einer Expedition zehn Wochen in einem Kajak und legte die Strecke Vancouver bis nach Juneau zur\u00fcck. Vier Jahre sp\u00e4ter <strong>\u00fcberquerte sie die gr\u00f6nl\u00e4ndischen Eiskappen<\/strong> in einem Sitz-Ski und \u00fcberwand dabei knapp 600 Kilometer in eisiger K\u00e4lte und massenhaft Schnee. Au\u00dferdem fuhr sie mit einem Handfahrrad die gesamte L\u00e4nge von Japan ab. Inzwischen arbeitet sie selbst in eben diesem Krankenhaus, in dem sie als Kind wegen ihrer Krebserkrankung behandelt wurde. <\/p>\n<p>Bei Arceneaux handelt es sich um eine Reise-Pionierin im anderen Sinne: Sie ist die <strong>j\u00fcngste Weltraumtouristin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Der Milliard\u00e4r Jared Isaacman kaufte den ersten Flug der SpaceX Mission, an der auch zivile Personen beteiligt sind. Er stellte dem Krankenhaus, in dem Arceneaux behandelt wurde und arbeitet, einen Platz zur Verf\u00fcgung und die Leitung musste nicht lange \u00fcberlegen: Die junge Amerikanerin, deren <strong>Kindheitstraum es war, einmal Astronautin zu werden<\/strong>, sollte diesen Platz erhalten.<\/p>\n<p>Auf dem <strong>mehrt\u00e4gigen Flug ins Weltall<\/strong> war sie f\u00fcr die medizinische Versorgung der Weltraumtouristen zust\u00e4ndig. Neben dem Titel der j\u00fcngsten Weltraumtouristin ist sie zudem die erste Person, die mit einer Knochenprothese ins Weltall flog. Sie selbst segelte schon in sehr jungem Alter Einhandt\u00f6rns, im Alter von nur 13 Jahren segelte sie alleine von Maurik in den Niederlanden bis nach Lowestoft in Gro\u00dfbritannien.<\/p>\n<p>Ende 2009 galt Laura Dekker in der Karibik f\u00fcr zwei Tage als vermisst, konnte aber wiedergefunden werden. Es wird gemutma\u00dft, dass ihr Verschwinden mit ihrer geplanten alleinigen Weltumsegelung zu tun hatte. <\/p>\n<p>Nach mehreren Anl\u00e4ufen konnte die damals erst 14-J\u00e4hrige Laura Dekker im August 2010 ihre Solo-Weltumseglung beginnen. <strong>Nach knapp eineinhalb Jahren und \u00fcber 500 Tagen<\/strong> auf See erreichte die Niederl\u00e4nderin am 21.01.2012 die niederl\u00e4ndische Karibikinsel Sint Maarten und beendete mit ihrer Ankunft ihre Solo-Weltumseglung.<\/p>\n<p>Die alleinige Weltumseglung brachte ein <strong>gro\u00dfes mediales Interesse<\/strong> an dem Vorhaben Laura Dekkers mit sich, was zum einen an ihrem sehr jungen Alter lag. Zum anderen gerieten sie und ihre Familie immer wieder in die Schlagzeilen der niederl\u00e4ndischen Zeitungen, da das Jugendamt mehrfach versuchte, die Weltumseglung zu untersagen bzw. zu verschieben.<\/p>\n<p>Laura Dekker gilt allgemein als die <strong>j\u00fcngste Einhandseglerin<\/strong>, die eine alleinige Weltumsegelung durchf\u00fchrte. Offiziell anerkannt wurde ihr Weltrekord allerdings nie, da das Guinness-Buch der Weltrekorde keinen Wettlauf um die Welt von Kindern unterst\u00fctzen wolle. <\/p>\n<hr>\n<h3>Zusammenfassung: Frauen geh\u00f6rt die Welt<\/h3>\n<p>Alle der acht oben aufgef\u00fchrten Frauen haben Einzigartiges geleistet: <\/p>\n<p>Sie sind <strong>Vorreiterinnen ihrer Zeit<\/strong> gewesen, sowohl im vergangenen 20. Jahrhundert als auch in der Gegenwart.<\/p>\n<p>Manche von ihnen haben in sehr jungem, andere wiederum in sehr fortgeschrittenem Alter Weltrekorde aufgestellt. Da das Streben nach <strong>\u201eh\u00f6her, schneller und weiter\u201d<\/strong> noch lange nicht gestillt ist, wird es sicherlich nur eine Frage der Zeit sein, bis andere Frauen diese Rekorde brechen oder gar ganz neue aufstellen.<\/p>\n<p>Zwei von ihnen zeigen sogar, dass Prothesen oder Querschnittsl\u00e4hmungen keine Einschr\u00e4nkungen sein m\u00fcssen und es trotzdem m\u00f6glich ist, die <strong>Welt auf faszinierende Art und Weise<\/strong> zu bereisen und zu durchqueren.<\/p>\n<p>Fast unm\u00f6glich erschien es auch, sich nur auf acht Reise-Pionierinnen festzulegen anhand der <strong>Vielzahl an mutigen und reiselustigen Frauen<\/strong>, die es weltweit gibt.<br \/>\nDie Auflistung der Reise-Pionierinnen erfolgte nach Geburtsjahr und soll in keinem Fall ein Ranking darstellen.
